Early 20th C Bhutanese ceremonial cloth composed of three panels, all woven on a back-strap loom, chagsi pangkheb were used for a variety of functions, both ceremonial and utilitarian. Historically reserved for use among the lay and religious elite, these densely patterned textiles typically signified status and rank, and could be hung behind alters, given as gifts to high ranking clergy, or used in formal processions. With fringe at both ends.
